In alignment with the vision of the Company, its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives strive to Energise Lives of the communities nationwide. BPCL has contributed towards the goal of achieving Sustainable Development and made significant progress in the focus areas of Education, Water Conservation, Skill Development, Health & Hygiene and Community Development.
Our commitment to education has not waned for over a decade. More than 8 lakh beneficiaries have been reached out through our education interventions so far. Carrying forward the tradition, a new hostel block for women at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore is supported by BPCL under its CSR interventions. The hostel block was inaugurated on February 4, 2020 by Shri. Jayesh Shah, Executive Director (HRS), BPCL and Prof. Anurag Kumar, Director, IISc in the gracious presence of dignitaries from BPCL as well as senior faculty members, staff and students of IISc.
IISc is India’s premier institution for higher education and research. The Institute is keen on encouraging more women students to pursue careers in science and engineering, in order to address the gender inequality in science and technology. It has produced several outstanding women scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs of India. Currently about 25% of students at IISc are women and the proportion has been increasing continuously in recent times. To support this increasing number, the Institute needed to establish a new women’s hostel with modern amenities. Several women students also come from disadvantaged sections of the community and from backward regions and far-flung areas, and therefore require sufficient, secure and comfortable accommodation on campus.
Contribution towards the nation building has always been the constant endeavour of BPCL and we strive to take it to greater heights every day!
